Harlan contributes to a variety of communications projects at MIRI. Before joining MIRI in 2024, he was a researcher at AI Impacts, where he co-authored the largest-to-date expert survey on the future of AI. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics from Texas State University. In his free time, he enjoys science fiction, strategy games, and guitar.
