Max Harms

Researcher

Max Harms is a researcher at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute, where he has worked since 2017. His primary research focus is the CAST (Corrigibility As Singular Target) agenda, which argues that corrigibility, or an AI system’s disposition to remain subordinate to and controllable by its human operators should be the central design goal for advanced AI systems. Harms is also a science-fiction author; his works include the Crystal Society trilogy and the novel Red Heart, both of which explore the nature and risks of artificial intelligence.
