New eBook: ‘Smarter Than Us’

SmarterThanUsCover-Angled-200pxWe are pleased to release a new ebook, commissioned by MIRI and written by Oxford University’s Stuart Armstrong, and available in EPUB, MOBI, PDF, and from the Amazon and Apple ebook stores.

What happens when machines become smarter than humans? Forget lumbering Terminators. The power of an artificial intelligence (AI) comes from its intelligence, not physical strength and laser guns. Humans steer the future not because we’re the strongest or the fastest but because we’re the smartest. When machines become smarter than humans, we’ll be handing them the steering wheel. What promises—and perils—will these powerful machines present? Stuart Armstrong’s new book navigates these questions with clarity and wit.

Hi, FYI the link at the end is relative (“/smarter-than-us”) in your RSS feed, so I get sent to “file:///smarter-than-us” when I try to follow it. Obviously visiting the link on this page is fine 🙂

This review sounds really interesting and it seems like the book deals with everything I mussed about regarding computers/robots.

In my personal opinion, AI becomming more intelligent than humans is just a natural advance of the evolution process; it’s inevitable and it’s happening whether we like it or not.

I’m more of an optimistic atitude toward this subject and this fun little preview quite accurately describes what I feel will happen when AI becomes more intelligent than people – we will have more time to enjoy life and to deal with creative aspect of our lives.

However, I’m definitely interested in this particular read and will get it the first chance I can.
