Become a Visiting Fellow

The Machine Intelligence Research Institute (MIRI) seeks to host mathematically talented individuals for 1–3 months to promote their development as mathematical researchers and to provide them with an opportunity to contribute to our research agenda. Short-term research collaborations with experienced researchers working on questions related to our research agenda are also welcome.

Visiting Fellows will be provided with room and board for the duration of their stay.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated mathematical ability
  • Knowledge of most relevant subject areas.
  • Ability to write in academic-style and produce a written deliverable by the end of the fellowship.
  • Self-direction and the ability to get things done when mostly unsupervised.

Those interested in visiting the Institute but who do not feel that they meet these requirements should consider applying for an Internship.

Application Process

If you meet these requirements, please email Malo Bourgon your CV and a cover letter explaining your motivation for wanting to visit MIRI as well as a description of which questions from our research roadmap most interest you and which desired papers you might be able to contribute to.
